Many people have made the mistake that I have by accidentally filling out a form online, seeking information on refinancing a house, or looking for insurance quotes or other service-oriented endeavours. Once the form is completed with a full name, location, and contact information the phone starts ringing off the hook! But do you really know what you have done with your information behind the scenes? You’ve placed yourself on a HOT LEAD list. Companies claim to be servicing you personally by shopping the best rates, instead they add your information to a list. A list that gets sold, shared, and distributed to a multitude of locations. Within hours, you get branded as a lead for fifteen different companies and, as we all know, the phone goes crazy! Many industries engage in purchasing lead lists for telemarketers to call. This includes the senior care industry. You might get a call from a “salesperson” who claims to be from a certain assisted living or independent living community down the street, and they convince you to come in and tour. When you show up, another person is there and most of the time they have never heard of said salesperson. This is, of course, deceptive and misleading. In many cases, the salesperson has never set foot in the community they recommend to you. Much of the senior placement industry has allowed itself to fall under the guise of acting as “advocates for the family” when they really only want you on a list. If your information is on their list and you select a community, they’re hoping that your pick might be a community that they have a referral contract with. If so, they will send an invoice with your full name on it, along with all the information that you gave them saying that they guided you to that community. Yes, it’s kinda’ shady. When it comes to placing seniors there are a few do’s and don’ts KSS can recommend: The Don’ts: Don’t give out your personal info in order to uncover a price or rate. Don’t use the internet reviews as your only criteria for selection. A lot of them are contrived Don’t select your Seniors next home SOLELY on price! The Do’s: TOUR at an odd time EAT a meal there, see what the food is like. ASK residents that are living there NOW, in person, how they feel about the community. CHECK for complaints at the state. USE a Placement agency who specializes in your area. KSS representatives have personally evaluated dozens of locations, sponsor events at many of them, have placed a huge number of residents already, and often make clients aware of specials not listed to the public! And more importantly, KSS reps know what locations have a stellar reputation and staff, and what locations that may lack quality service. Our KSS consultation and placement service comes at no charge to seniors and their families. You owe it to yourself to visit with one of our Community Liaisons. After all, this is one of the most important decisions in the lives of your loved ones! In a simpler example: If you decided you wanted to buy a new car. Which service would be of more assistance? A. A service that took all your info, sent it to every car dealership in the county, then encouraged every salesperson to call and get you in for a test drive, then that salesman and service rep called you daily to find out what your decision was or: B. A person that took your information, shopped for you, and when the right vehicle was located, MET you at the dealership, demonstrated the car to you, and assisted you in deciding if the car really fit YOUR needs.
